Gladiator Workout Routine

There are several likenesses in the training systems between today’s professional athletes and the ancient gladiators of past. Even though the majority of the gladiator’s training routine consisted of exercise they also had weapons coaching techniques that they used. But since most of the planet today is simply looking for a better technique to get in great shape we will not be covering that part. In this gladiator workout routine I am going to give you some of the coaching strategies the ancient soldiers would use to get in good shape and prepare for battle.

In today's world there isn't going to be a big advantage to learning to fight like a gladiator but there are advantages when it comes to looking and training like a gladiator. One thing we should get straight is that ancient soldiers didn't go to the gym to train their pecs and biceps. They weren't sitting on weight lifting machines and they surely weren't reading books while on the elliptical trainers. Naturally they also failed to have the technology advances that we have today but that does not imply they used their bodies for everything that they were worth to get in a great gladiator style workout.

Rather than coaching like the present day gym rat it will be far more beneficial to train like a sporting hero by means of doing total body complicated exercises. Developing athlecism is going to be key if you are looking to train like a warrior and to get the body of one too. You will not need a bunch of costly equipment but you will need your bodyweight to do many of these workout techniques. There are one or two basic core bodyweight movements that I highly suggest to develop the body like push ups, pull-ups, deadlifts, squats, lunges and step-ups. Focusing on these general movements are going to give you the majority of your results but the downside is that they'll also be the hardest exercises to do.

To exercise like a gladiator you are also going to want to maintain a way higher heartbeat rate then you would with the normal training styles. Soldiers need to be prepared for battle at all times and this implies sudden strikes and quick bursts of energy. They weren't training for marathons but fast action paced battles. For this I recommend doing high intensity interval training by performing timed sets of hard exercise followed by a resting time period. This way you may work at your maximum for a set time and raise your pulse but have a little bit of time to rest before you do it all over again.

Training like a gladiator isn’t going to be easy and to be truthful with you it’s going to be extremely hard. If you're content to put in the extra work then you can not only develop an athletic body but you will also burn calories and build lean muscle fast. So the next time you are in the gym consider this gladiator workout over the aerobics classes.
