Go Completely Coconuts

High quality Organic Virgin Coconut Oil is so-called because it is created as part of the first batch, from the fresh coconut meat. The coconuts used in unadulterated virgin coconut oil are handpicked from traditional Palm Trees grown in Fiji. The coconut meat is then heated at temperatures that never exceed 60̊C.

Deriving from the nuts picked from traditional Palm Trees in countries, such as Fiji, Organic Virgin Coconut Oil is drawn from the pressed fresh meat of the coconut and the fact that it comes from the fresh meat, is the reason why it is referred to as “Virgin”. Being a Virgin Oil means that the oil still contains all the vital nutrients and goodness, that could have been lost had the meat not been quite so fresh.

It’s all nice knowing that a beauty product is derived from a completely fresh original fruit/seed/nut, but so many large companies these days ruin that naturalness, by adding unnecessary chemicals and additives in order to create a certain smell, texture or even more vainly - colour. Nevertheless, you’ll be happy to know; that Organic Virgin Coconut Oil certainly does not contain anything that nature hadn’t intended to be in there.
What does this mean for the overall product?

The Oil hasn’t been refined, so you can expect the organic virgin coconut oil to be 100% natural. It has not been deodorized, which means that the smell that you will get will be the smell given to it by it’s natural impurities, because no odours have been deliberately added to it. However, fresh coconut smells so delicious, why would anyone want to change that?
The Coconuts used are Non-GMO, which stands for Genetically Modified Organisms. This is often done by playing with the genes to create “perfection”, but no human is perfect and we don’t want to genetically modify ourselves, why should any other part of nature be altered in the name of aesthetics? There are also no chemicals or un-natural bleaching added, which can cause irritation, allergies etc.

Next time you see a Coconut Oil product on the shelf of your favourite shop take a look at the ingredients. If Coconut Oil (Cocos nucifera) is near or close to the bottom of the list then you are paying good money for cheap synthetic fillers.

For skin: Ladies worried about the signs of ageing (the worry gets to us all eventually!), you will be thrilled to know that organic virgin coconut oil works wonders at plumping up the skin, not only making it supple, thus preventing sagging, but also reduces the prominence of wrinkles (hurrah!).

Organic Virgin Coconut Oil absorbs instantly into the skin, adding huge amounts of moisture to even the driest of skin. This makes the oil an excellent combatant against annoyances such as Dermatitis and Eczema. Nevertheless, why exactly is the organic virgin coconut oil so good for dry skin?

The Science
Organic Virgin Coconut Oil is bursting with goodness, including Caprylic Acid that is thought to be effective against fungal infections such as warts (including planter’s warts), athlete’s foot and fungus. It is also full of triglycerides, which are made up of one part Glycerol or Glycerine and three parts Fatty Acids. The Fatty Acids are an organic chain of hydrogen-rich atoms, which attach to the Glycerol/Glycerine and create the Triglyceride’s backbone. Humans already naturally produce Triglyceride-rich sebum, however, when the Triglyceride-filled oil is used on our skin and scalp, it attracts a good bacterium that feeds on the Triglyceride, in turn creating free fatty acids that then create a protective barrier over our skin and scalp.

This is due to the fact that VCO is a triglyceride of Lauric acid (principal fatty acid). It has a high affinity for hair proteins and because of its low molecular weight and straight linear chain, VCO is able to penetrate deep inside the hair shaft and carry nourishment along with it.” Source: J. Cosmet. Sci., 54, 175-192 (March/April 2003).

For hair: Organic Virgin Coconut Oil is considered one of the highest rated natural nutrients for all hair types. It is especially great for naturally curly whirly hair that is dry or damaged due to excessive heat, chemicals in products and/or the use of Afro hair relaxers. The essential proteins that are found in Organic Virgin Coconut Oil deeply condition the hair from the roots, right down the lengths to the tips, creating hair that is healthy and shiny.

Producing too much sebum causes a person to have greasy skin, meaning that the excess oil needs to be removed in order to keep the balance and prevent outbreaks of spots and/or hair that becomes greasy quickly. On the other hand, if the body doesn’t produce enough sebum, the lack of oil makes the skin dry, potentially causing skin conditions such as dermatitis and eczema that can be incredibly itchy and irritating. The key to treating these conditions is to simply replace the missing triglycerides, and since Coconut Oil contains a high proportion of these triglycerides, the oil is a perfect remedy.

Therefore, if you’re looking for moisturised skin and tamed locks that aren’t frizzing everywhere, then a drop of coconut oil could be the secret you’ve been looking for. You’ll question how you have managed to live without it.
