How To Get Relief From Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Irritable bowel syndrome is a disorder of the gastrointestinal tract, causing pain in the abdomen, with either constipation or diarrhea, a feeling of still needing to go after already having a bowel movement, and bloating of the abdomen as well as other symptoms. Irritable Bowel Syndrome relief can come in many ways.

There are a lot of ways recommended to help relieve discomfort. What you may need to do is find what suits you best by trying different relief methods. If you have tried one and it did not seem to help, then this method may not be suitable for your situation. The next one may help and if it does you may get some relief but if it does not, keep trying.

A bowel movement may happen twelve or more hours later, so if you can keep a check on the foods you are eating and if there is pain before a bowel movement then it may be something you have eaten and it is not agreeing with you. It comes down to trying to eliminate food that are making you feel unwell.

If a person has a problem with eating gluten or wheat and this type of food is eaten by accident, they may experience a feeling of being bloated and tired later on. A person with this type of problem has to be careful what they eat so as not to have these symptoms again.

When a person has lactose intolerance, this means they cannot tolerate dairy products, they may have pain in the bowel and abdomen, diarrhea and a burning feeling when a movement is passed. This can happen approximately twelve hours after a dairy product has been eaten.

When the abdomen becomes bloated and there is pain in certain parts especially sharp pain, then a gentle kneading may be of help if it is done on the parts of the abdomen which have the most pain. This sometimes helps to move gas further along the effected area causing some relief in that part.

A good diet may be helpful. Various fresh fruit, steamed vegetables or vegetable or fruit juices and good quality meat may also help, especially with any malnutrition which may develop because of poor eating habits. Be aware of how your body reacts to any food and if it does not agree, eliminate it. You are the one who will suffer.

If you find your situation stressful and you are tired all the time then you may like to try vitamin and minerals. If you find any of them not agreeable then stop taking them and perhaps try something else. They have been known to boost energy and improve emotional feelings. Minerals such as magnesium and calcium have been known to help with cramps, if taking them you will need to work out which one suits you.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome medication is also available, and if you need rest then plenty of this will help along with relaxation.
