Is Your Fat Point Determined By Your Genes?

by Mikey Van Deen

Many people have long held the mistaken belief that everybody has a particular fat point where their body realizes that this is the level of fat that is normal to that particular person.

We all develop our own fat point based on our lifestyles.

While there are various different body types that are determined by our genes the percentage of fat that we carry around in our body is not due to the genes that we have inherited. It is due to the food that we have been eating from the beginning of our life to the stage where we are at presently.

For those of you who have been overweight for an extended period and have kept a constant percentage of fat, this will be your fat point. It will alter in direct response to the kind of lifestyle you lead everyday.

Remaining at a steady fat point for a number of years will see your body adjust accordingly. It will attempt to maintain a workable equilibrium and will develop the right amount of muscle tissues and capillaries. It will also adjust hormone levels.

It wasn’t genes that did it. It was you that determined your fat point. Your body only wants to keep things balanced.

The body then settles down to monitor and maintain the new fat point. Any sudden changes to your lifestyle will be seen by the body as negatives that have to be corrected. Going on a sudden diet will mean the body will try to conserve fat often at the expense of muscle tissue.

Unfortunately for many people they don’t like to accept the fact that it is not their genes or anything else that has resulted in their fat point being too high. They are comforted by fooling themselves that they cannot do anything about it.

In reality, anyone can change their fat point through slow and steady adjustment of their lifestyle. Increase you metabolism and build muscle. Adjusting your diet and taking regular exercise will always result in a lower fat point.
