by Anne Durrell

OCD or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder causes a person to repeat actions or thoughts repeatedly. People with OCD want to stop themselves from carrying out the compulsions, but are unable to.

A person may begin to suffer other mental troubles like anxiety without OCD treatment. OCD treatment involves therapy that can be very helpful to the disorder and their family in recognizing about the disorder.

Treatment Options

OCD is cured with combination techniques. Nowadays, OCD treatment mostly involves:

* Handling

* Meds

Treating OCD is something that needs a lot of commitment, so that the therapy can only succeed when the disorder is ready to get help and is eager to maintain a commitment to all phases of the therapy.

It is not like many other conditions, medication alone will not succeed to stop OCD behaviors or symptoms. The disorder with OCD has to be committed to all the treatment phases.

Behavioral treatment can be adapted to fit the real compulsions of the disorder. Behavioral treatment also can give patient different methods to help them. These methods include:

* Systematic desensitization: exposes the person to the anxiety provoking stimuli gradually

* Relaxation methods teach the disorders how to cope with anxiety and stress

* Combines systematic desensitization together with relaxation methods to help the disorder to cope the compulsion

Meds

It is compulsory for the disorder to recognize that the treatment can only help a little bit, and that the therapy must be taken in combination if all relief is wished.
