So what exactly is a Contract Electronics Manufacturer? They are companies that come up with contracts to make electronic assemblies for other companies. Today they are getting more into offering their customers a much broader selection of services. Because they have become more involved in offering support services to companies. Some of these companies have begun to offer such a large variety of service that they skip the middle man and go directly to retail type stores that sell electronic products.
These services have become extremely complex including design, testing, manufacturing, distribution as well as providing return and repair services for the electronic components. They also can focus on advice on development of mechanical, software design and electrical component designs. They have also have begun to do analytical laboratory tests on products for other companies.
With the popularity at a high these companies now are beginning to offer contracts that cover design, some production, service and repair, distribution, they will even give advice on development of software products and in depth laboratory testing for companies that need someone else to test their products for them.
These contracting companies can also serve as software, silicon design as well as standing in as customer service for the different products that they produce.
